RTD recently announced that General Manager Washington will be leaving RTD for a similar position at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). While we are sad to see him go, we are proud of the accomplishments of this agency under General Manager Washington’s leadership. We intend to build on his legacy to ensure our FasTracks projects scheduled to roll out in 2016 and beyond will be successful and that our base business remains strong and intact. The Board has appointed a General Manager Executive Search Committee (GMESC) and has a documented process for hiring of an Interim General Manager as well as the filling of the permanent General Manager position. Here are some updates on our current process:
- The GM Executive Search Committee is on target with our plans to hire an Interim General Manager. Applications from members of the Senior Leadership are due on April 1, with a planned Special Board meeting on April 9 to vote on an Interim General Manager. The Search Committee solicited interview questions from the full Board and have identified the selection criteria and top questions that will be asked of each candidate.
- GM Executive Search Committee approved unanimously the selection of CRL as the Strategic Advisory Service. A primary function of the Strategic Advisory Service will be to help build a comprehensive communications plan that will be inclusive of internal and external groups including stakeholders, elected officials, and community organizations.
- The GM Executive Search Committee has established a notification link on the RTD website where people can sign up for news and alerts. We encourage our riders and any interested person to sign up for updates on our GM Executive Search process.
- The GM Executive Search Committee met with Human Resources to begin the benchmarking process for the General Manager position. HR will employ the Mountain States Employment Council to begin gathering data that will be incorporated with other sources of information to ensure we are following our compensation philosophy to hire the best and the brightest.
