On Thursday April 9, Regional Rail Partners joined forces with City Year Denver, RTD, Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), Shrewsberry, Pinyon, and Workforce Initiative Now (WIN), to host the first Career Fair since forming an alliance in August of 2014.
The collaboration was established to help raise awareness about career opportunities in the transportation industry, and to develop a pipeline of future employees at every occupational level.
Career Fair attendees included students from Trevista Middle School, Bruce Randolph, North High School and City Year Corps Members. The program offered extensive insight to disciplines such as Environmental, Engineering, Architecture and Construction. Students also participated in team building exercises, and received practical information about scholarships, internships, classes and other resources to help in their pursuit of a career in transportation.
The action-packed day concluded with an inspiring visit by RTD’s General Manager and CEO, Phil Washington who spoke about existing conditions and the prospect of a promising future in the transportation industry.
